Fire Prevention Week - October 9-15

10/13/2016

From Arlington County
Saturday, October 15, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., open house to celebrate Fire Prevention Week.
Stop by any Arlington County Fire Station and
  • see the equipment.
  • climb in the trucks.
  • talk to firefighters and paramedics.
  • tour the station.
  • participate in fire safety activities.
The theme for 2016 Fire Prevention Week is “Don’t Wait – Check the Date, Replace Smoke Alarms every 10 Years!” Many people know to replace their smoke alarm batteries twice a year and test the alarm monthly but are unaware the entire alarm needs to be replaced after 10 years. To find out how old your smoke alarm is, look at the manufacture date on the back of the alarm. The Arlington County Fire Department also provides free smoke alarms and installations, if your alarms are not working.  Contact any of the local Fire Stations to request a free replacement smoke alarm.

Station Locations
  • Fire Station 1 – Glebe Road
  • Fire Station 2 – Ballston
  • Fire Station 3 – Cherrydale / Military Road
  • Fire Station 4 – Clarendon

Wentworth Place Management and Board of Directors wish to remind all residents that  as part of the next filter changes/preventive maintenance in November, smoke alarms will be checked and you will be fined if your units are non-existent or not working.
Take advantage of the Fire Prevention Week and ensure your smoke alarms are properly installed and in working order.
